Actually it was more like a ladybug convention! My friend raked up some leaves in her back yard and the discovered the pile of leaves was crawling with ladybugs. Charlotte sat in the pile of leaves and soon had ladybugs crawling all over her (as long as they were on her clothes she was ok but she DID NOT want them on her skin).
I ran outside to get away from the kids for a minute (well one in particular) and I saw a bee buzzing around the Beebalm. My camera was right near the door so I grabbed it and then ran outside and luckily the bee was still there.
Well I am behind posting Day 3 and I’ve come to the conclusion that at this point a daily Challenge is just too much. That being said, I do still want to try new things that will get me out of my comfort zone so I’m going to go along with Digital Photography School’s weekly challenges from now on. I’ll also still be posting any non challenge related photos that I took and liked.
This was my second choice for something green (the green bit of leaf sticking out of Peter’s mouth that he was trying to eat).
At the lake there were HUGE dragonflies everywhere. Taking a photo of one proved to be almost impossible because they never seemed to land. I wish there was some way I could have captured the sheer number of them in the sky. Thanks to the dragonflies I hardly had to wear any mosquito repellant at the lake (at home is another story)
I’ve always been simultaneously fascinated and creeped out by peonies or rather the ants that crawl all over them. I think it’s pretty cool the way the ants lick all the sap off to help the flowers open but at the same time “ewwwwwww they are crawling with ants!”
A friend told me about these flowers and when I saw them at the store I had to buy them – they have the most interesting coloring. I’m glad I got photos of them before last night’s rain beat them to smithereens 😦
